WHO WE ARE:BACKGROUND ABOUT SAF-TESO SAF-TESO is an Indigenous Non-Profit NGO registered in the Republic of Uganda since 2009, dedicated to improving the human rights, social and economic wellbeing, and health of Ugandans. SAF-TESO possesses WHO Civil Society Commission Accreditation for the attainment of health-related SDGs and advancing health at global, regional, national or local levels. Moreover, it has the UNCCD International Accreditation and the United Nations ECOSOC consultative status, and works to enhance and contribute to the three Rio Conventions on Biodiversity, Climate Change and Desertification.SAF-TESO is also contributing to several agenda items of the UNFCCC COP28, especially Food Systems and Sustainable Agriculture, Loss and Damage, and Global Action on Adaptation. Moreover, the organization aims to support the African Union Strategy for Climate Resilience and Development, with emphasis on production towards an agro ecological transition to reduce GHG emissions.On June 11, 2023, SAF-TESO was officially accepted by the Open Dialogues International Foundation as a national team and granted permission to perform activities in Uganda as part of the Open Dialogues on Climate Change Project. The organization is also a member of the Global Landscape Forum (GLFx) and Global Networks of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR) for Climate Change Resilience, Climate Change Education, Research, Advocacy and Sustainable Development.SAF-TESO is coordinating all Health CSOs for the TB Constituency under Uganda Stop TB Partnership, Malaria Constituency under MACIS and HIV/AIDS Constituency under UNASO in the Teso and Karamoja Sub-regions, North Eastern Uganda. In addition we coordinate all environmental, and human rights CSOs in North-Eastern parts of Uganda, for ECOSOC and UNCCD Programs. It strives to build collective efforts through its member organizations to combat and prevent the climate change crisis, HIV, TB, malaria, and other STIs.Our strategies focus on strengthening collaboration, promoting creativity and innovation, research, and community building in the SAF-TESO’s areas of operation. This way we can gain a strong voice in advocacy for ending AIDS, TB, malnutrition, food insecurity, food systems waste and loss, and the climate crisis in Uganda by 2030.Our Mission: To serve the less privileged persons in Uganda through promotion of healthcare services, education, environment conservation, and economic opportunities.Our Vision: Empowering vulnerable communities to meet their basic needs, improving healthcare, promoting fundamental human rights, protecting the environment and nature.Our Goal: To support marginalized people and groups and to give them a loud advocacy voice to improve their economic opportunities and reduce inequalities. AMBASSADOR VOLUNTEERING PLACEMENT AT SAF-TESO IN UGANDA This program is provided by Shine Africa Foundation (SAF)—Teso. Location : Uganda: Rural Areas/Local Governments, Hospitals, Schools, And Families. Expiration : Open Program Summary: Join us in Uganda and Volunteer as Ambassador as we work toward sustainable change and empowerment among people in local communities. Under the volunteer cooperation initiative of SAF-Teso, we invite individuals, groups and families from all over the world to participate in our projects and programs. We welcome anyone regardless of previous experience and background; there is utmost flexibility in the projects they wish to become involved with. SAF-Teso works across numerous areas: Medicine and Health, Education and Teaching, Fundraising, Sports, Sustainable Livelihoods and Agriculture, Micro-finance, Community Empowerment, Business Planning and Management, etc. Our programs are also open to interns with skills in accounting and finance management, teaching, website design, and photography. Volunteering with us engages you in both administrative and community activities. Since we work with several partners, placements and opportunities are spread in around 9 districts throughout the Teso Sub-region. You’ll commit to a maximum of 6-8 hours daily during your volunteer period. Program Highlights: Improve the lives of people in local communities while contributing to the overall growth of SAF-Teso.
